I suffer from an honesty affliction, I find it near-impossible to pretend I like something when I don't. Early on I discovered a weird phenomenon; when presented with two samples and asked which I preferred, I would often reply honestly, "I have no opinion." This confused a lot of people and sometimes made them angry. They would demand angrily, "What do you mean, you have no opinion?" as if I were denying I existed. Not having an opinion didn't seem to be an option.
Maybe at a fundamental level - eat/don't eat, chase/run away, but that doesn't involve a lot of opinion. Categorising danger saves time whereas forming an opinion often wastes time.

You know how we're wired to see patterns? Maybe we're wired to categorise everything too...
